

John F. Rodgers Washington, IL John F. Rodgers, 79, of Washington, passed away at 6:54 am on Monday, January 7, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on May 23, 1933 in Peoria, IL to Winton and Hazel (Matheny) Rodgers. He married Mary J. Simkins on December 31, 1954 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2011 in Peoria. His parents, one daughter, Becky Barnwell, two brothers, Lawrence and Tom Rodgers, and one sister, Carole Davis also preceded him in death. Surviving are his two children, Vicki (Don) Younglove of Mapleton and Tom (Marga) Rodgers of Washington, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings, Shirley Potter and Jim Taylor both of Bartonville and Bob Taylor of Dunlap. John served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy before being discharged. He worked for over 38 years with Fleming and Potter before retiring in 1993 as a Pressroom Foreman. He was a member of the East Peoria Boat club and he enjoyed golfing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel.
