

He was born Nov. 25, 1919 in Panola Township in Woodford County to William and Greetie (deVries) Shuck. He married Frances Peters July 18, 1940 in Peoria. She survives along with one son, Leonard (Martha) Shuck of Indianapolis, IN, two daughters: Linda (Dr. Ken) Randle of Lake Barrington, IL, Susan (Richard) Gingerich of Dunlap, twelve grandchildren and twenty seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Shuck, and two sisters: Bernadine Vissering and Magdalene Eichelberger.
John was a farmer and worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for over 30 years retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Forrest Hill Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Illinois Masonic Lodge No. 263 of Peoria, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Temple Shrine of Peoria, and the Peoria County Farm Bureau.
John enjoyed driving children back and forth to Chicago to the Shriners Hospital for ten years during the 1980’s and 1990’s.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Feb. 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Forrest Hill United Methodist Church, 706 E. Forrest Hill Ave., Peoria, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or to his church.
