Karen M. Baker, 85, of Peoria passed away at 2:39 am Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her residence. She was born September 9, 1931 in Peoria, the daughter of Harold and Winifred Drew Smith. She married Daniel Baker on March 11, 1952. Karen is survived by her husband of 65 years; one son Stephen (Gay) Baker of Shaker Heights, Ohio; four grandchildren, Michael (Whitney)Baker, Kelly (Jesse) Hamilton, Corey Baker all of Shaker Heights, and Trevor (Ashley) Walraven of Southern ,IL; five great-grandchildren, Burke Baker, Riley Hamilton, and Riley, Zoey, and Alexis Walraven. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Marcie Baker-Walraven. Karen graduated Peoria High School with honors. She was a graduate of Bradley University and a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria. Karen was also past president of the United Methodist Women and active in the Batton-Harper Circle. Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am Monday, July 31, 2017 at Parkview Cemetery. Dr. Timothy Ozment will officiate.
