

She was born October 31, 1947 in Peoria to Henry and Eileen (Kahrs) Ommen. She married Gary Knapp on May 16, 1970 in Peoria; who preceded her in death on June 26, 2018.
She is also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by two daughters, Sarah (Dave) Siegrist of Bloomington, Monica Knapp of Wilmington, one son, Benjamin (Tanya) Knapp of Washington, seven grandchildren, Emily, Jeremy, Megan, Logan, Anthony, Justin, Ben, three great-grandsons, Oliver, Finn, and Greyson, two brothers, Joel and Jim Ommen.
While being a homemaker and mother she was known for so much more by so many. An amazing origami teacher, artist and nurse. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers and being in nature. She set a strong foundation for the women in her family and was a wonderful grandmother and friend to all. She was a lifelong learner that was sure to idiot-proof her teachings. She was full of life and love that she gave to everyone she knew, and in turn was loved by many as a surrogate mother.
She was involved with Girl Scouts, the Sun Foundation, Clean Water Celebration Committee and was an environmentalist. This night owl loved Jeopardy, playing Mahjong and Rummikub. She was very involved with Trinity Lutheran Church and created many of their banners. She was also involved with the Cursillo and Watch programs.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, with services following the next day on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria. Pastor Mark Nelson and Pastor Matthew Synnott will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s name to the Sun Foundation.
