Marian L Giles

Peoria; Marian L. Giles, 87, of Peoria passed away at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Marian was born June 22, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of William W. and Alice E. Dodson Johnston. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Earl Giles on February 1, 1948.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years; one daughter, Nancy L. (Stuart) Steider of Hamilton, Ohio; two sons, James R. (Karen) Giles of Brimfield, and Robert T. (Janice) Giles of Colorado Springs; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Rettig, Kathryn (Aaron) Debbink, Nathan (Alisha) Giles, Brandon (Jennifer) Giles, Emily (Paul) Jordan, Drew Giles, Kaela Giles, Amy Giles, and Noah Giles; one twin sister, Marilyn Layer of Peoria; and eight great-grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

She worked as a secretary for Richwood High School for several years. Marian was a member of the South Side Mission Auxiliary and Grace Presbyterian church.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, March 6, 2015 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Pastor Douglas Lightly will officiate.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
