

Mary passed away on February 24, 2023, at age 102 years and one day at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria.
She married Randolph R. Williams on March 17, 1949 in Iowa City, Iowa. Together, they purchased a new house in 1960 on Embert Place in Peoria built by Becker Builders and G. Raymond Becker. Mary lived in that house on Embert Place from 1960 until 2015, at which time she went to Aperion Healthcare in Peoria Heights.
An avid golfer, in 1950, Mary and her late husband Randolph, were founding members of The Progressive Golf Club in Peoria. Leonard and Winona Crooks, Ed and Irene Cooper, Robert and Valeska Hinton, John Hodge, Randolph and Mary Williams, and Ed and Betty Bell, are all generally regarded as the founders of The Progressive Golf Club, joined by Gene and Jackie Petty and others soon thereafter.
Mary worshipped at St. Paul Baptist Church in Peoria.
She served as a Past Matron of Silver Star Chapter 74, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliate, State of Illinois, a fraternal order founded on benevolence and charity. Her passing breaks a bond with the Chapter's fraternal chain.
She was preceded in death by her husband on December 11, 2004 in Peoria.
Thank you to the caregivers over the years at Aperion who took such good care of Mary, and thank you to Pastor Deveraux Hubbard and the parishioners of St. Paul Baptist Church for supporting Mary.
Her church family has arranged a memorial service to take place at 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2023 at St. Paul Baptist Church in Peoria. Rev. Deveraux R. Hubbard will officiate. Entombment will take place in Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.
