Nellie M. Wineland

She was born to Harry and Nina (Lindsay) McLaughlin on August 28, 1937 in Sparta, IL. They preceded her in death.

She married the love of her life Gene Wineland on January 16, 1965 in Ohio. He survives.

Nellie is survived by her son, Tom (Audrey) Wineland; grandchildren, Josh and Summer Lee Wineland; sisters, Harriet Rose, Mabelle Wexler; nephews, Chapin (Camille), Tom; niece, Stacy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Nicholson.

Nellie was a proud member of PHI BETA PHI, graduating from University of Illinois. After working for District 321 for over 20 years as a teacher, Nellie retired in 1994 and spent many hours volunteering for Northminster Presbyterian Church in many of the ministry teams. She was also a member of Mt. Hawley Country Club, as well as the Illinois Opera League, Peoria Symphony Guild, and Illinois Retired Teachers Association.

A visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Davison Fulton Woolsey Wilton.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria with a visitation being held an hour prior.

A burial will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria or The Salvation Army.
