

He was born June 22, 1951, in Peoria to Arthur A. II and Antoinette (Milligan) McCammon. He married Cynthia "Cindy" Woodburn on June 4, 1977, in Peoria.
Cindy survives along with Ray's mother, Toni McCammon of Bothell, Wash.; two daughters, Julie (Brian) Kelly of Manito and Christa (Matt) Rosenak of Bartonville; five grandchildren, Ashla, Jaida, Miranda, Micah and Graham; and one stepgrandson, Brayden. Ray is also survived by one brother, Arthur (Michele) McCammon of Newcastle, Wash.; and one sister-in-law, Beth of Woodinville, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ed McCammon.
Ray grew up in West Peoria and was a graduate of Manual High School.
He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving in Vietnam.
Ray was a firefighter for the City of Peoria. He also was a sprinkler fitter for Local 669.
Ray was a longtime member of the U.S. Parachute Association and Illinois Valley Parachute Club (over 15,000 jumps). Skydiving was his life's passion. He jumped into many area events.
He also enjoyed mountain climbing (Mount Ranier and Aconcagua), hiking, and travel.
Most importantly, in the last few days of his life, Ray came to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Cremation rites have been accorded. At Ray's request, private family services were held. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Forest Park Nature Center at 5809 Forest Park Drive, Peoria Heights, IL 61616, where Ray enjoyed hiking for many years.
