

He was born on July 27, 1929, in Peoria to Albert and Ida Mae (Danz) Pauli. On October 3, 1954, he married Donna Jean Wells in Peoria. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2001.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Richard worked for many years with the Peoria Park District and was also a dedicated farmer. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union for 41 years. A passionate outdoorsman, he was a life member of the North American Hunting Club, the NRA, the Illinois State Rifle Association, the Peoria Casting Club, and the Pabst Sportsman Club.
In November of 1983, Richard went to hunt, he never failed to bring home a deer. The buck scored 267 3/8 inches boone and crockett and 197-pound field-dressed, at the time it was the states #1 non-typical. He prided himself on never using a deer stand or camouflage, to give the deer a fair chance.
Richard was a lifelong member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his son, Scott Pauli, and daughter, Leasa Pauli; six grandchildren, Calli Pauli, Cody Pauli, Brian Pauli, Craig Sievert, Randy Sievert, Rachael Smith; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his sister, Ann (Russel) Jacobson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Eric Pauli; brother, Harold Pauli; and sister, Mary Connelly.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Church in Peoria. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Barry Long will officiate. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
Memorial's may be made in Richard's name to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
