He was born the youngest of 11 children to Rollin and Ruby Robison. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Trudy, stepson Dan (Tammy) Gaul of Florida, son Doug (Dawn) Robison of Peoria and daughter Denise (William) Milligan of East Peoria; grandchildren Elizabeth (Heath) Skaggs, Jessi, Alec, Lylee, Kelci, Trinity, Anna, and Wyatt; three great grandchildren; sisters Marian (Elmer) Rickey of Springfield, Carol (Chuck) Smyser of Morton, Joan Robison of Roanoke; brothers Sonny Robison of Sherman, Dean (Kay) Robison of Peoria, and Tom Miller of Brimfield; many nieces and nephews and his dear and faithful sidekick and friend, Rosie, his Chihuahua who never left his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Greta, Barb, Marilyn, and Mary, and two brothers, Walter and Kenny.
Richard attended Richwood's High School. He was a decorated veteran receiving a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War. The bulk of his working career was in the construction field where he was a laborer, finisher, then ending with driving a truck for Roanoke Concrete. After retirement, he spent time building and fixing things for people. He volunteered as a driver for a local food pantry and a local animal shelter.
His passion was cars. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He loved NASCAR, especially Dale senior. He raced stock cars with his brother. If it wasn't Chevy or John Deere, it didn't need to be on the road. To those of us who have been blessed to know and love Richard as family and friends, we'll miss that sense of humor, that mischievous "I told you so" smile and above all, his true and loyal love and friendship, we will miss because he was just a great guy. So we will leave you with one of his philosophic quotes: "We are not here for a long time, we are here for a good time."
Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, with visitation 2 hours prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made to SAMS in Hanna City. Online condolences may be left at www.Davison-Fulton.com.
