

He was born on August 5, 1955 in Peoria, IL to Harvey R. and Phyllis (Fehr) Berchtold. He married Janeen Crane on December 27, 1990 in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-son, Jason and grandson Roger.
Surviving is his wife Janeen of Peoria, step-daughter, Jenny Wilson of Pekin, three grandchildren, Ashlie, Austin and Emily, one brother, Dan (Kristen) Berchtold of Peoria, two sisters, Pat (Russ) Waldschmidt of Peoria and Kitty (Pat) Ward of Peoria. Also surviving are three nephews and three nieces.
Rick was initiated into the Carpenter’s Union on May 29, 1979, as a member of local #183. He was a superintendent for Becker Const. and supervised some of the largest building projects in Peoria. He also served as delegate to the MCIRCC, West Central IL Building Trades Council and twice for UBC General Convention.
In 2003 Rick was employed by MCIRCC as an Organizer and was promoted to Director in 2010. Rick retired on March 31, 2013, but stayed active in his local, working on committees; helping on various volunteer projects, most recently he helped build the Extreme 5K obstacle course benefitting the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
Rick enjoyed outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.
A visitation will be on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. A service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Funeral Home. Cremation will be accorded after the service.
