Hanna City – Robert F. “Bob” Stejskal, 76, of Hanna City, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was born on July 25, 1945 in Chicago, a son of Gustav and Elsie Marie (Pochop) Stejskal. Bob married the love of his life, Cheryl Lea Swords on February 10, 1968 in Peoria. Together, Bob and Cheryl had three children. She survives.

Bob is also survived by their three children, Robert Scott (Lorey) Stejskal of Chillicothe, Jeffrey David (Kimberly) Stejskal of Peoria, and Janelle Lea Stejskal of Cocoa Beach, FL; and four grandchildren, Taylor (Austin) June, Dylan and Katelyn Stejskal, all of Peoria, and Braedan Wyatt of Cocoa Beach, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Lhotka; brother-in-law, Bill Lhotka; and his father-in-law, Harold Lester Swords, and his mother-in-law, Laura Rosella (David) Swords.

Bob was one of the top high hurdlers in the U.S. in track and field in high school. He trained for the Olympics and unfortunately suffered an injury during the pre-trials.

Bob received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Bradley University in Peoria. He began working at the steel mills in Valparaiso, IN. He went on to work for 10 years for Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburgh, PA. While working for Westinghouse Electric he helped establish an automated steel mill in Dunkirk, France. He last worked for Caterpillar Inc., retiring as a manager in Engineering in 2007 after 29 years of service. Bob was proud of his work on the hydraulic excavator and next generation motor grader projects.

Bob attended Fellowship Bible Church in Peoria. He was a former member of the Hanna City Presbyterian Church and Cross Point Church in East Peoria. Bob was a former captain and vice president of the Caterpillar Retirees’ Golf League. He was a member of SAE International. Bob loved spending time with his family and traveling with his wife. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially woodworking. Bob enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, and going to the beach.

Bob's memorial service will be private at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
