

Peoria – Roger Vernon LeRoy, 81, of 117 North Western Ave. #403, Peoria, passed away at 3:36 PM on Thursday February 7, 2013 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by his family. He was born on October 21, 1931 in Peoria to Chester W. and Bessie M. Block LeRoy. He married Dorothy Dreher on March 2, 1951 in Peoria. She survives along with 3 sons Jeffrey R. (Marydale) LeRoy of Peoria, Stephen W. (Cathy) LeRoy of Havana and Gregory M. (Angie) LeRoy of East Peoria; 12 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren; and 2 sisters Darlene Mordue of Pilot Point, TX and Loretta Parker of Story City, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and 2 brothers.
Roger had been an electrician with the IBEW Local 34 since 1965, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the West Bluff Christian Church. He was involved with his sons in sports and scouting. He was always there for anybody who needed help. He loved his entire family and tried to be there for all of them. Roger loved golfing with his brother and cousin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed fishing with his wife, sons and grandsons. He was a life long St. Louis Cardinals fan. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Rev. Jeff Lashley will officiate. A visitation will be held from 12 to 2 PM prior to the services. Cremation will then be accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria at a later date. Memorials may be made to Peoria Rescue Mission or PAWS.
