Shirley Elise Klaus, 86, of Peoria, formerly of Edwards, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 at UnityPoint Health - Proctor in Peoria. She was born on June 8, 1935 in Peoria, a daughter of Ernest “Ernie” Rudolph Klaus and Veronica “Vera” K. (Binkele) Klaus.
Shirley is survived by her sister-in-law, Diane Klaus of Minnesota; and two brothers, Tim (Carole) Klaus of Tremont and Steve Klaus of Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Carol (Arnold) Boich; and one brother, Ron Klaus.
Shirley graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She was a former first grade teacher at Wilder-Waite Elementary School with Dunlap Community Unity School District 323 for several years.
Shirley is a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School classes for several years before she was involved in a serious car accident.
Shirley’s funeral service will be at 6:00 pm Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Church ministers will officiate. Her visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm also on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria.
