Sue Yates

She was born September 17, 1936 in Altus, OK to Robert and Marie (Harris) Harvey. She married Shelly G. Yates on June 20, 1954 in Altus, OK. He survives.

Also surviving are her children: Rick (Debbie) Yates of Sarasota, FL, Connie (Hurley) Shepherd of Memphis, TN, Sharon (Freddie) Trussler of Peoria, Pam (Steve) Wineinger of Princeville, IL; 3 siblings Kenneth (Betty) Haley of Athens, TX, Joan Parrent of Dallas, TX, Alton (Gaye) Harvey of Austin, TX; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sue graduated from ICC with her Associates degree.

She was a pre-school teacher and later Director at Woodland Baptist Church for 19 years. She also served as the Church pianist for more than 30 years. She was very active and involved with the church serving also as a youth leader.

Sue’s passion and true love was her family. She took pride in being a wife, mom and grandmother above anything else. Family and church was her life. She also loved to play games and do crossword puzzles.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2012 at Woodland Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the Church and one hour prior to services on Monday. Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
