Mickey was born on March 20, 1943 in Motobu-Cho, Okinawa, Japan, to Gensei and Kamada Nakahodo. She married Donald R. Erwin on July 29, 1966 in Naha City, Okinawa. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2012.
She is also preceded in death by her parents.
Mickey is survived by her daughter, Sayuri Elmore of Chattanooga, TN; sons, Michael Erwin of Metamora, IL, Brian (Christina) Erwin of Peoria; grandchildren, Samantha Buckner, Adam "Rocky" Boyer, Bayley Elmore, Tristen Elmore, Gemma Richie Lee Hardin, Allison Ihnken, Horatio Erwin, Noah Erwin, Elijah Erwin; and great-grandchildren, Eli Boyer and Olivia Boyer.
Mickey worked several jobs throughout her life including a hostess at Lums, and a housekeeper at Proctor hospital. She and her husband Don were members of the VFW Post 2602. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, puzzles, crochet, and sewing.
Mickey's family has arranged a celebration of life gathering to take place from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the VFW Post 2602, 1505 E. Lake Ave., Peoria Heights, IL 61616. Food will be provided by Mickey's family.
