

He was born March 19, 1947 in Peoria to Ralph and Helen (Jenkins) Stockwell. He married Lona McDowell on May 22, 1971 in Bartonville.
She survives along with three daughters: Tammi Stockwell of Dunlap, Helen Stockwell of Carpentersville, IL, Geneva (Christopher) Keyster of Edelstein, and three grandsons: Hunter, Colton, and Hayden Keyster all of Edelstein.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Donald and Richard “Dick” Stockwell.
Tom was a 1965 graduate of Manual High School in Peoria. He was a U.S. Naval Vietnam Veteran serving on the U.S.S. Epping Forest mcs-7 based in Sasebo, Japan. He also served in Thailand, Taiwan, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Japan, DMZ-Zone in North and South Korea, Cambodia, and the Philippines.
After the service Tom worked 24 years for Ameritech (Illinois Bell) last working at Custom Underground, Inc.
What he loved most in life were people, just getting to know them and making new friends. He loved taking his three daughters fishing when they were young and recently taking his three grandsons fishing. He enjoyed country music, watching old westerns on TV, making his potato salad, spending time outside with all wildlife, Huskie dogs, and spending time with family and friends.
He was a man with a big heart that just stopped beating.
Funeral services will Saturday Dec. 5, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Rev. Karen Norman Rees will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria with Military Honors.
