Viola Hamilton

She was born August 21, 1920 in Helena, AR to Scott and Eliza (Johnson) Carter. She married Charles Steele, he preceded her in death. She later married Clarence Hamilton on December 8, 1962 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1997 in Canton, OH. Her parents, one son Larry Hamilton and one daughter, Janet Steele also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three children, Claire Hamilton and Charles Hamilton both of Peoria and Ivory Steele of Normal, ten grandchildren, Jeremy, Charlie, Roderick, Ryan, Larry Jr, Precheus, Camesha, Nikki, Tiffany and Crystal, many great-grandchildren and Rose Morris who was like a daughter to her.

Viola worked in Housekeeping for many years with OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She served as a foster parent for over 23 years with the state of Illinois. Viola was a member of Cornerstone Gospel Church, she belonged to several community prayer groups and was a counselor with AFL-CIO.

A service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 22, 2013 with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Parkview Cemetery Chapel of Peace. Pastor Frances Kenon and Ministers Rose Morris and Charlene Hamilton will preside over the service. Burial will follow the service at the cemetery. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
