Virginia “Gynne” Cummings Doubet, 95, of Peoria, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed quietly and peacefully away from this life at Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria on Wednesday morning, May 15, 2013. Gynne was born on October 15, 1917, in Pittsfield, Illinois, to Charles P. and Glenna (Baujan) Cummings. On September 5, 1936, she married Raymond E. Doubet in Peoria, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1998 in Peoria. Our beautiful mother loved her family, knew no stranger, and enjoyed giving of herself to others. When she was 19 she began coordinating fashion shows for Block and Kuhl (Carson, Pirie, Scott) and continued doing so and modeled for a good part of her life thereafter. She was past president of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, a member of the board of the Peoria-Tazewell County Heart Association, emeritus member of the Junior League of Peoria, member of the Methodist Hospital Service League and a past president of her P.E.O. Chapter EF. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Peoria where she was married. From 1973 until the early 90’s Gynne served as secretary for her husband’s Doubet Aluminum Window Company. She will be missed by all, particularly her family: daughter Nan (Bill) Brown of Houston, Texas; son Chuck (Sandie) Doubet of Scottsdale, Arizona; and son Tad (Vicki Barber) Doubetof Peoria. She leaves behind 3 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, 6 great-granddaughters, and 4 great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband - Raymond and brothers - Milner Cummings and Charlie Cummings. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Apostolic Christian Skylines for the exceptional care mother received during her stay at the home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be Saturday June 1, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. following the visitation. Burial will be Parkview Cemetery following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Virginia “Gynne” Doubet be made to Apostolic Christian Skylines, the Alzheimer Association of Peoria, or the First United Methodist Church.
