Peoria – Virginia D. Nyman, 92, of Peoria, IL passed away Thursday March 29, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Virginia was born May 4, 1919 in Peoria, IL to Fred and Edith (Dare) Williams. She married Carl E. Nyman on May 18, 1946 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving is her son John (Amy) Nyman of Peoria, IL, daughter Jennine (Jon) Oblazny of Golden, CO, 1 grandson, three step-grandchildren, one niece, and three nephews. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters.
Virginia was a graduate of Manual High School in 1938. She was a member of the National Honor’s Society, co-founder and charter member of the Peoria Poetry Club, and the Resident Association of B’nai B’rith. Virginia had several poems published in many different anthologies. She was also a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and the church’s 55 Club.
