William "Bill" J. Lester Sr.

He was born to William and Margie Lester on April 14, 1929. He was preceded in death by both parents, brother David, sister Rosemary, and his beloved wife Bertha May (Gaines) Lester.

He is survived by his sister,Judie Braden of Riverside, CA ; his son, William James Lester Jr. of Chillicothe, IL; daughter, Cindy (Robert) Biera of Peoria, IL; and his son Steve Lester of Galesburg, IL. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Kara (James) Harness of Chillicothe, IL, Sara (Jeremy) Bernard of Sister Bay, WI, Yamara Biera of Peoria, IL, Elnita (Patrick) Biera of Arvada, CO and Jacob Lester of Bloomington, IL; great grandchildren; Chris (Jenny) Harness of Springfield, IL Nic (Sarah) Harness of Chillicothe, IL, Carlos Biera of Peoria, IL, and Jayla Biera of Peoria, IL, Zy'Miria Lester of Decatur, IL and Jayden Dyson of Decatur, IL; and great great granddaughter, Parker Harness of Springfield, IL.

Bill and his wife Bertha were the original owners and operators of Lester's Tasty Donuts in Peoria, Peoria Heights, and Chillicothe. He began making donuts out of his house over 60 years ago before opening his first donut shop in Peoria. He enjoyed his time at Pizza Inn over the years. The owners and staff were like family. He also enjoyed dancing, traveling and sharing his experiences in life with his family.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Pastor Craig Hislope will officiate.
