

He was born August 16, 1928 in Somonauk, Illinois to Fred and Mabel (Schneider) Welch. He married Betty Lou Martin November 10, 1951 in Beloit, Wisconsin. She survives along with three children: Sue L. Welch, David (Kerri) Welch, and Mary Elizabeth (Kurt) Brendon all of Peoria; four grandchildren: Matthew and Nathan Welch, Kyle and Ryan Johnson; one brother: John (Dorothy) Welch of Oak Park, Illinois; a close family friend, Julie Koch; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill first started his professional sales career at McNeaneys Department Store in Beloit during the early 1950’s. He later worked for IBM. Following IBM in 1973, he was founder, owner and operator of Welch Systems, Inc. in Peoria until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member, Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Peoria. He was a past board member of the March of Dimes, very active in the Community Theater, and was an Official for SCCA.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be Thursday June 21, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria. A visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
