Jim's parents, Ford and Frances Underwood, and my parents, Bud and Peggy Hook, were very close friends.  Our families did a lot of things together.  Jim was a year ahead of me in school and as a teenager I wanted to hang around him and his other buddies from Perris High.  
I am deeply saddened by his loss and was ill prepared when I read it in the Perristonian flyer.  Lots of memories flooded my heart.

I will miss you my friend,  the short time I knew you,  you always kept me smiling even though we both were in the hospital... 

I will miss you and your stories, watching westerns with you, and having Del Taco on the evenings that the facility only served us sandwiches...

I met James and his family while we all attended Temple Baptist Church in Perris. I got to know James, when sitting with him and his family every Sunday morning.  He was always friendly to me. I’ll keep praying for his family. Love you all❤️🙏. 

Dad, 
We've had quite alot of arguments and shouting matches. Mom always said it's because we're both alike. Unwilling to throw in the towel and surrender.  At the end of it all, it always ended in hugs and tears and apologies and saying we're both alike. You taught me alot dad. You taught me there's nothing wrong with hard work and getting dirty and there's also nothing wrong with working with your hands. You taught me to love animals and respect people as well as family and friends. Because of you dad, I know what it means to never interrupt when others are talking and to stand up for myself and not let others walk all over me. You did raise me right dad and that was to love God, family and friends. You taught me also if I fell down, get back up again and go on with life. Thank you dad for saying those memorable words to me my whole life, "oh you're not hurt, you'll be fine" lol. Thank you for the strength, humor, respect, love, you instilled in me. I'll see you later dad. Love and miss you. As I tell you every night, your memory will not be forgotten and will live on forever.

I'm glad I'm just like you dad, it helps me to know you're always close by.

Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy where have you gone. Your last struggle has taken you away from us, I have known you your whole life and you have been a rock to your family, and to your friends an always inquisitive guy. While you grew up in the Valley, and plowed much of it you always looked to other places. Go visit them all now. GOD BLESS YOU.

I’ll miss you so so much my favorite nosey neighbor. You were one of a kind and touched our hearts tremendously. Thank you for always watching out for us and making sure we were ok. It will never be the same around here without you. Thank you for all the laughs, memories and love. I will see you again one day and we will walk the streets of heaven together like we did down here.
