Roy grew up in Norco; and was a proud graduate of Norco High School, Class of 1974. He lived a life defined by humility, kindness, and quiet generosity. A truly unassuming man, Roy gave freely of himself and never expected anything in return.
He had a sharp sense of humor and a truly unforgettable, distinguishable laugh—one you could pick out in a crowded room. Roy loved a good conversation and could talk for hours about the topics he was most passionate about, especially sports, politics, finance, and cars. He was also known for his talent as a practical joker—always keeping those around him on their toes and smiling.
Roy also had a strong interest in technology and was incredibly tech-savvy, often staying up to date with the latest developments and helping others navigate an ever-changing digital world.
Above all, Roy showed up for his family whenever he could. He cared deeply, stood by those he loved, and wasn’t afraid to fight on their behalf when it mattered most.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Divina, and stepson, Asher; his siblings, Jamie Hirnshall (Phil), Annmarie Prather, Corky Carlson (Danny), and Brian Nurge; his nieces and nephews, Deanna, Kristy, Garrett, Danny, Savina, and Dave; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kennedy, Taytum, Tanner, and Talan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy George Nurge Sr. and Mary Nurge, and his sister, Carol Doty.
While his absence leaves a profound void, there is comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain. He will be sorely missed and forever loved.
