Buckley, Alan James - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alan on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Alan of Barrie was 64 years of age. He had been struggling with illness for the past couple of years and had been hospitalized for some time. He moved to a nursing home in Millbrook on December 30, 2019.
He is survived by his two sons Sean and Jason who were the light of his life. Much loved brother of Janice (Stuart Salsbury) of Omemee and John of Barrie. Predeceased by his oldest brother Keith and his parents Cliff and Pat Buckley. He has seven nieces and nephews, several great nieces & nephews and one great-great niece.
His passion was fishing, and Alan was happiest with a rod in his hand and a line in the water. He spent many a day with his siblings when he was young, fishing at Willow Creek in Midhurst. He would wake up and yell to mom "Sun's up Mom" and would pack a lunch, and off he would go. He always held the flashlight while Janice picked the worms from the front lawn. Remember him for his big heart, goofy grin and his wonderful sense of humor. He is at peace now. We love you Alan and are sorry that we did not have more time together.
Interment is planned at Midhurst Union Cemetery, Saturday May 2nd, at 11 am with a Celebration of Life at Midhurst Community Centre, 74 Doran Road, to follow from Noon – 3 pm. Donations in Alan’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice and can be made at www.communityalternative.ca.
