Arlette was one of my first mentors as a French teacher with the Peterborough School Board. I always remember her being full of energy and following her devoted love for teaching. I was thinking about her the other day and her sense of humour as I was sorting through some teaching resources. My heart goes out to the Dufort family. It is never easy to lose a loved one, especially not in this Christmas season. Be safe. Hug each other. Enjoy fond memories.

Dear Paul (Junior)

I wanted to reach out to you,  at this time of your loss of your mother.
Whilst, I barely knew your mother,  I certainly knew YOU!!  And, I was delighted to meet up with you again, at Matthew's house on Benson Avenue, a few weeks back.
I remember you very fondly from the 1970's.  You were a very  sweet kid then;  and you remain a NICE man now.  I feel great affection for you Paul.
I'm sorry for the pain of your loss you are enduring right now.
Please know that I think WELL of you. You are, for me,  a pleasant 
 memory from the past.

My most sincere condolences to the family of Mme Dufort. As others have attested here, I too was deeply touched by this wonderful woman! I can remember when she first began coming into my class in Grade 4 at Queen Elizabeth P.S. to teach us...ANOTHER LANGUAGE!!! I was hooked! I, too, wanted to be able to speak another language. It was because of Mme Dufort that I continued with French throughout my entire schooling as well as picking up German in high school, I did several French exchanges in Quebec, I spent a university year in Chicoutimi, became a French teacher myself AND,  met and married a franco-Ontarian. I feel so fortunate to have sought Arlette out a few years ago when she was still teaching in order to thank her for her zealousness, her enthusiasm and for always encouraging me to pursue my love of the French language. Mme Dufort touched so many and will be truly missed.

My deepest sympathy to Mme Dufort's family.  She was my French teacher at Grove Public School until 1985 or 86.  Even in the younger grades, before she even taught me, I remember flocking to her when she was on yard duty at recess.  She always made time to listen to me count in French.  I was also part of her choir and fondly remember her taking us to compete at the old St.Peters highschool and to retirement homes.  I wish I could have kept in touch with her through my highschool years.  Mme was a wonderful person I admired greatly.  It wasn't until my adult life that I realized how much more I could have learned from her.

I am so sorry to read of the loss of your beloved wife, mother & grandmother. Madame Dufort had a smile & energy that lit up the room. I was a student of hers at Queen Elizabeth back in the 1970’s.  In May, 1976 three of us were sent to the County French Contest.  The three of us placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd for the whole county. I can still see her beaming smile as each of us were called to the stage!  That was not a fluke. It was a reflection on her as a teacher, the time and effort she invested in each of us & our desire to want to do well for her. She was definitely one of those impressionable teachers who truly make a positive difference in the trajectory of your life!  She was a sweet & kind lady and I am so terribly sorry for your loss. 

Dear Teresa,  l’m so sorry to hear of your  lovely Mom’s passing. She was a huge part of my life growing up. She always had a big hug to share, time to listen and valuable advice she shared freely. I remember sleep overs in the sun room, the tiny trailer in the backyard and always a place at the table for me. She was a generous, loving woman and l know she’ll be so missed by you and your family.

I'm sorry to hear of Arlette's death.  As French teachers with the PCBE, Arlette at the elementary level and me at the secondary level, we collaborated easily and successfully several times.  I also had the pleasure of teaching the Dufort children.  My fondest memory is meeting Arlette and Paul, by chance, at a motel in Labrador.  The next day, Arlette, Paul, my former wife Ann and I went to L'Anse aux Meadows together. Happy memories.

Over the past 40 years , everytime I saw Arlette she greeted me with that wonderful , welcoming smile and outstretched arms.  She will be so missed by everyone who knew and loved her. My thoughts are with her beloved family and I am so sorry that you have lost such an amazing wife, mom and nana.
