On Behalf of all the members and the executive team of the Ontario Plumbing Inspector Association, I would like send our deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of Bill.
Bill was a very respected member of the Ontario Plumbing Inspection Association and will be missed by many members.

Bill was on the same floor at Princess Gardens as my mom and we always spoke with him during our weekly visits. He was often outside when we arrived and left, always with a warm greeting and wishing us a safe drive home to Hamilton. He enjoyed listening to our daughter play piano in the Fireside room. We were so sad to hear he passed and send condolences to his family.

Julie and Chris, I’m heartbroken over Bills passing. I would have gone to wake but didn’t want to spread my cold around.  Bill provided sunshine on many a day to everyone. How are Cally and Taz doing. If they need a home, just let me know. The world has lost a beautiful soul.

So many wonderful memories of Uncle Bill and Aunt Eileen. I have struggled over the thought that both are no longer with us. We had so many wonderful Christmas’, and other family celebrations; weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays and Thanksgivings to name a few. During all of these get togethers we had so many laughs, lots of  amazing food and many special moments. We will miss you Uncle Bill.

The members of the Pine Ridge Chapter of the Ontario Building Officials Association mourn the loss of a long-time member in the passing of Bill. Not only did Bill hold a rigorous standard for plumbing and construction as a whole, he shared his considerable knowledge with members without reservation. Bill delivered his always sound advice with humour and respect, and leaves a lasting contribution based on expertise and integrity. On a personal level, we will remember Bill’s stories and value his mentorship.

To Bill’s family; condolences.  I re-met Bill, after not having had a conversation with him since my Nana Heffernan’s passing in Feb. ‘88, at her funeral reception.  I remember him as quite the character, constantly chatting and lots of laughs from him. Fast-forward to a January day about 7 years ago, whereby when I was out walking along the Campbelltown Road, I saw him sitting outside, we waved and I approached him. I mentioned who I was, and after having alot of chat, he was glad that I approached him, as he was happy to be able to talk with one of Eileen’s kin, as he had lost track of some others. Originally, I was a 2nd cousin of Eileen’s, but then in the mid 70’s or so, she became my aunt, when my Nana married her father! She married Dave Heffernan, who was the brother-in-law of my grandfather, ‘Bill’ Watkins. We reminisced regarding my mom, Norma Crayden, and my brothers Dan and Ken Crayden, and we also chatted about his family. We had become closer to Eileen and her young family, as we had moved to Ptbo in ‘77, having lived in Ottawa (visited our Nana’s cottage at Campbelltown/right beside Eileen’s, for many summers from there), and Calgary.  After chatting with Bill for awhile, my toes were freezing as we continued our chat, but I didn’t mind, as I knew he enjoyed the conversation, and that’s all that mattered to me. He had invited me in, but it was time for me to go. I felt like I had known him closely for many years, in the way he warmly talked with me. He had said for me to come back anytime to visit, but Covid came along and got in the way of that! I walked along the road again, a couple of years ago, but he wasn’t home. I felt badly, when I found out last year, that his house had just been sold, and I figured that he had decided to reside in a nursing home. Rest in peace Bill...wished we could have chatted again.

What I wouldn't give to have one last visit with Bill.  To hear his laugh and to listen to his stories, and most importantly to listen to his advice that he always made sure to pass along.  A dear friend for 25 years that had the biggest heart and the absolute best sense of humour hands down.  I would sit in the cubicle next to Bill and burst out laughing at the things he'd say on the phone to the plumbers that would call to talk to him.  I wish I'd recorded some of those conversations.  Bill, you were an absolute gem and I will never forget your friendship.  May we meet again someday.

Bill has been a member of Big Buck Camp for over 30 years. He is deeply respected by all of us for his humour, wisdom, work ethic, and his willingness to take on any challenge. Bill greatly improved on our humble camp over the deacdes with many things, most notably the addition of indoor plumbing.

Bill has touched on our lives in so many ways; he will be dearly missed by all of us.

To Uncle Bill's family.  Our deepest condolences on the passing of Uncle Bill.   We have many fond memories of being together with our parents at family events and get togethers.  For me, one of those memories was working with Uncle Bill while he was plumbing our house in Bridgenorth .  It was a great learning experience for me (Greg Whitnell, I was 9yrs old) and I've used his lessons many times.  Our deepest sympathies, Greg, Bobbie Jo, Ben, Kenna, Quin and Josie.

Very sorry to hear of Bill's passing.
He was the very knowledgeable plumbing inspector guru for Northumberland County for many years. His expertise and common sense set a high standard for everyone involved in the plumbing and building industry. Bill was also a wise mentor to the members of our Pine Ridge Chapter of Ontario Building Officials Association.
His wry sense of humour and warm friendship was always a welcome addition to our monthly OBOA meetings. 
Bill shared his vast depth of plumbing knowledge with everyone who needed it and left a fine legacy of truth and fairness.
We will fondly remember "Mr. Bill" as a dear friend and great man.

Funny story every time I sat down with Bill, beers soon appeared.

Bill is one of my favorite people ever.   I looked up to him as a mentor while working with him for 10 years up until he retired from  Nothumberland County.   ❤️

I struggle to find the words. Bill and Eileen welcomed me with open arms when I lived next to them for 5 years on Campbelltown Rd.  I shared a lot of laughs and have a lot of good memories of that time in my life.  Well....maybe except the times when Bill decided to cut the grass outside my bedroom window at 6am. I would always give him heck for it and he was sorry......but not sorry! LOL And they would both worry and watch for me when I would head out to kayak on the river in the storms. Bill and Eileen weren't just neighbours, but they treated me like family and they felt like family. I tried to keep in touch with them as I moved around different parts of Canada for work. And although I wasn't the best communicator in recent years, Bill was constantly on my mind. I remember the conversations we all had, and I am that much richer for them.  I'm sorry we didn't get to talk one last time. I'll remember you very fondly, always.

I am so saddened to hear of Bill’s passing. I will miss him dearly with my daily visits to see my mom at PG.  Bill always  asked “how’s mamma bear?”  upon my entrance and upon my exit I would say “see ya tomorrow Bill” and his reply was always “I hope so”. Oh my, I will miss him so much! Condolences to his very much loved family.

Julie and Chris,

As you grieve the passing of Bill, know that you and your family have been in our thoughts and prayers daily.

My deepest sympathy.   I am so sorry for your loss.  I have many cherished memories of Bill, which I will hold dear to my heart.  
Grief reminds us that death is not goodbye but the longest and  hardest  "See you later"
