Beloved husband of the late Ellen Kaye Meek, passed away peacefully on June 8th, 2017. Lynn, his preferred name since his college days, will forever be remembered by his three children, Vickie Meek and her partner Peter of Peterborough, Randy Meek and his wife Marnie of Manchester, CT and Shari Gorman and her husband Matt of Gainesville, FL. Lynn will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren Turner, Brendon, Sheridan, Alexandra and Matthew and by his brothers Gene (Barbara) and Quinton (Kate). He was predeceased by two brothers Robert and Edwin and his sister Mary. Lynn was born in December 1935 in Berryville, Arkansas to Clarence and Helen Meek. While his father’s business interests moved them often the family eventually settled in The Plains, Ohio where Lynn attended high school. While he enjoyed sports he also lent his talents to drama and chorus. Lynn graduated from Plains high school in 1953, and soon after traveled to Atlanta, GA where he chose to live with his older brother Robert as he pursued his studies at Georgia Tech University. Lynn’s first job was with Lockheed Aircraft but that soon transitioned to a 25 year career with Modern Talking Picture Service, a distributor of sponsored films and other media. Before his job took him to Texas, he met the love of his life on a blind date. Ellen Kaye Hughes, a nursing graduate from Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, would become his forever wife of 50 years. They were married in Florida and moved to Texas where they had their first two children. An opportunity came for Lynn to transfer to Ontario Canada and the family moved in 1965. They had one more child, purchased a home and a cottage, where they made many wonderful memories throughout the years. Lynn’s career aspirations were realized with his purchase of the Canadian division of Modern in the early 1980’s. Lynn’s business success was built on a strong network of business associates that became friends around the world. Lynn and Kaye knew the importance of relationships and truly enjoyed any opportunity they had to host or participate in gatherings with their friends. A great number of these friendships remained close over the years and became more like an extended family. Lynn was a fun-loving, God fearing, industrious, and committed family man who could make a friend anywhere and leave a lasting impact on all who knew him. A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 209 Cochrane Street, Whitby, Ontario at 11 AM followed immediately by an on-site reception. If so desired, donations in memory of Coulter Lynn Meek may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society to continue the fight against the disease that took his wife too early.
