
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Denis Collins at Campbellford Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 26, 2024 in his 81st year with his devoted wife, Nancy of 41 years and extended family by his side.
Son of the late Patrick Collins (1964) and the late Loretta Sarginson (1990). He will be sadly missed by his first cousin, Patsy Copperthwaite and many more relatives and friends.
Denny started work at the Westclocks right out of high school where he worked for 10 years. He then worked at Sharpe’s Food market where he met his wife, Nancy. He remained at Sharpe’s until 1982 when he became a partner at Very Best Meats for 10 years. He then started his own lawncare and snow removal business.
Denny loved sports. He played football, baseball and hockey. He coached boys hockey and girls baseball. He also spent a lot of time at the bowling alley where he was on 2 teams. At the age of 10 Denny met hockey legend Maurice (Rocket) Richard and became a die-hard Montreal Canadians fan. Denny belonged to the Kinsmen and K40 club.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 21 Centre St. in Campbellford on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Visitation is 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM followed by mass and graveside burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at St. Mary’s school auditorium. Cremation has taken place.
In memory of Denny, donations to Campbellford Memorial Hospital or Heart and Stroke would be appreciated by the family.
