Donald Ross McPhie

Cherished husband of Elizabeth (Betty) for over 72 years, passed away peacefully at Royal Gardens, on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Adored and admired by his children: Joan (Frank O’Neill) of Vancouver; Paul (Linda) of Qualicum Beach, BC; Carolyn (Fred Hamblin) of San Diego, CA; Patty (Paul Harnden) of Peterborough; Peter (Helga) of Barrie; and Chris of Qualicum Beach, BC. Devoted Grandpa to fifteen grandchildren and very proud Great-Grandfather of fifteen great-grandchildren. The McPhie family wishes to express our profound gratitude to Dr. Don Spink for his exceptional professional care of Dad over the years. Dad was so appreciative of each and every staff person at Royal Gardens; they regarded Dad as family and offered compassionate care and warm friendship at all times. Everyone delighted in Dad’s sense of humor and love of nature. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains, 411 Reid Street, followed by a reception and the sharing of spoken tributes to Dad at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
