Douglas married Dorothy Comber (Hodgson) in 1942 during WWII. From this marriage, they had four children: Diane (deceased), David, Dale and Donna.
Douglas wore many hats over the years:
He was in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII and fought the good fight in the North Atlantic. He was with IBM for 47 years. He served as Chief Commander for Canadian Power Squadron and enjoyed his time with his comrades in the office as well as out on the open water. He also appreciated a good game of golf.
He relished having his animals over the years but above all, he loved his family. He would provide wise advice and guidance to us right up to the very end. He taught us to stand up for what is right. He appreciated all of his good friends.
Doug will be missed by his children, grandchildren and all of his friends.
The earth is a sadder place without his light but heaven has gained a wonderful soul.
