Douglas was a loving father to Tina Smith and Candy Hulbert. Proud Grandfather to Jason, Ashley, Lindsay, James, Lauren and Morgan. Cherished Great-Grandfather to Hayley, Charlie, Julian, Taron, Lewis, Nathan and Madison.
He was predeceased by his beloved partner in life Marg Abdale and by his sons Douglas and Ben Smith.
Douglas lived a simple and meaningful life, finding joy in the outdoors, especially while fishing, and took great pride in his work as a master drywaller and accomplished woodworker. A skilled craftsman with hardworking hands, he was always building, fixing and creating. He adored his cats, enjoyed spirited conversations about politics, and he was well known for his witty sense of humour that brought laughter to those around him.
Above all else, Douglas will be remembered as a good man and a loving father whose quiet strength, warmth and devotion to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
