August 25, 1944 – September 26, 2025
We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Douglas Ivan Taylor who left us peacefully after a long and brave battle with cancer, on Friday, September 26th.
Doug was the devoted husband of Gloria Jean Taylor(Scott), his wife of 28 years, proud father of Brian(Alexandria) and Karen, and caring stepfather of Caroline(Don), Angela(Chris) Michael(Karylnn) and Paul. He was also a proud grandfather of Bailey, Clover, Jasper, Talon, Maisie, Elly, Taya, Caleb, Caitlyn, Spencer, Lily, Kade, Ivy, Brittany, Megan and Kyle, and great-grandfather of Kai. Doug was preceded in death by his Father John Floyd Taylor, Mother Mary Elisabeth Taylor (Ward) and his brother Lorne Taylor (Jean). He is survived by his brother Gerald (Wanda), and brother Dennis. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews and cousins from across the continent.
Doug was an electrician by trade, and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, before taking on a management and ownership position with Sage Electric in Ajax. An avid fisherman and hunter, his favourite place to go was “Up North” to the Taylor Hunt Club, where he spent many seasons hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was an accomplished mandolin and guitar player and loved to play music with anyone he could, most importantly with his cousins Ron and Gary Setterington. This love of music has been passed down through the generations and continues with his children and grandchildren today.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 4th, 2025 at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road in Peterborough. Visiting will commence at noon, with a ceremony at 2pm with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice Peterborough, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
