Eleanor’s life was enriched by the love and companionship she shared with Keith Young. They made many great memories during their time at Sherbrooke Heights.
Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Peterborough Ontario, where she attended Central School, PCVS, and St. Paul’s Church.
After attending Peterborough Business College, Eleanor was employed by the C.N.R. in Toronto until her return to Peterborough where she worked at The Peterborough Clinic, Peterborough Civic Hospital and the Board of Education from which she retired.
Eleanor had fond memories of the Mohan-Hunter Dairy on George Street next to the Y.M.C.A. It was the family business where Maurice delivered milk by horse and buggy while Pearl baked pies and operated the dairy bar out front. Eleanor, Lois, Phyllis and dog Wimpy assisted when they weren’t playing around Confederation Park and the Armories.
Eleanor had a lifetime of love for family, music, gardening and travel. She enjoyed hiking, canoeing, kayaking and was involved in many clubs and organizations. A former member of Sweet Adelines, Kawartha Music Company, Jubilaires Ladies Chorus and In The Spirit Gospel Choir. She was one to stay busy and give back to the Community. She volunteered at the Trent Valley Archives, Mapleridge Recreation Centre, and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Eleanor loved any type of game or challenge. She could not be beat at a spelling bee and was a master at crosswords. She loved a good competitive game of Euchre and didn’t miss an activity at Sherbrooke Heights.
The Indian River property known as WAGGE’S in Warsaw Ontario will forever hold a special place in Ellie’s heart.
