

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garth on Sunday, February 2, 2025 surrounded by his family at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in his 94th year. Garth was born on Sunday, August 9, 1931 and died on Sunday, February 2, 2025 which is also the anniversary of his youngest son’s death, Douglas Garth on Feb. 2, 1979. Loving father of William “Bill” Clark and Colleen Clark (Donald). Proud gramps of Douglas Clark and Matthew Bolton. Fondly remembered by Frances Clark and niece Pat Bjorndahl. Predeceased by nephew James Bjorndahl. Born and raised in Peterborough, Garth went to PCVS, he then joined the Militia through high school. Upon commissioning in 1955 at Base Borden, he re-located to Ipperwash for his first posting. Throughout his military career he served in many locations including Soest Germany, CFB Petawawa, CFB Picton, CFB Borden, and a year posting to Kashmir. He retired as Infantry Captain, having served in the 1st Battalion of The Canadian Guards. He then returned to his hometown Peterborough and was very eager and excited to re-connect with his childhood friends. Later in life, Garth enjoyed hockey, car shows and even skating in to his mid-80’s. Once of his proudest accomplishments was hand building his family log cabin home on Eels Lake. Garth will be greatly missed. Visitation will take place at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge St., Peterborough on Thursday, February 6th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m. Private family interment at Emily Cemetery, Omemee.
