Gloria Ruth Lowney Robertson

It is with great sadness that the family announces that Gloria passed away peacefully, at Fairhaven Long Term Care, on Sunday, January 27, 2013, in her 87th year. Retired Teacher & Librarian, Peterborough County Board Of Education. Lifetime member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church. Founding member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Peterborough Naval Association. - Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Robert Earl Robertson for 47 years. Loving mother of Grant (Annette) of The Woodlands TX, Philip (JoAnne) and Paul (Christa) of Peterborough. Proud grandmother of Brooke (Chip Kent), of Plymouth MN, and great grandmother of Jade, Bear and Amber. Will also be missed by JoAnne’s daughter Tiffany. One of Gloria’s hallmarks was her ability to encourage, inspire and bring out a smile in everyone she met. This included students, friends, family, neighbours and strangers alike. While being an avid reader and stressing the importance of education, raising three sons left Gloria no option but to become a sports enthusiast; in particular baseball, and watching her beloved Blue Jays became one of her favourite pastimes. Their number one fan will no doubt be watching intently and will now be able to enjoy those late night west coast games. We will miss her terribly but will remember her life fondly...love leaves a memory no one can take away. Visiting will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm and on Friday, February 1, 2013, from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Funeral service will follow, on Friday, 11:00 am, in the Comstock Chapel. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated.
