Hazel Haze Elsie Jones Spencley

Passed away, peacefully, at Fairhaven Home on Sunday, January 9, 2011 just 15 days short of her 96th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Frank Spencley Sr. (1996). Devoted mother of Frank and his wife Shirley (nee Devlin) and the late Jim (2005) and his surviving wife Ruth (nee Davis). Dear grandmother of Kerrie, Jeremy and Melanie; great-grandmother of Sawyer, Iris, Noah, Nicolas and Emmett. She is survived by her brother Wilf Jones (Iris) and her half sister Rosemary (Merrett), and Ann (Weishar) and half brothers Clem, Bob, and Brian. She was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Agnes Elsie (nee Hawthorne) Jones; her brothers Eric and Richard and sister Elsie (Watson). Hazel was the matriarch of Romaine Street having lived there for 50 years. She was a kind and gentle soul and the neighbour we all wishe for. Hazel loved her boys, Frank and Jim, and often did without to provide them with the things she thought they needed. The most valuable contributions to their lives were: a vibrant sense of humour, a strong ethical foundation, a loving & forgiving heart and a fierce determination. Those who really knew this grand lady, Hazel Spencley, and who will have memories to cherish or to share please join us. Visitation beginning at 10 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am, on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street. Interment will take place at Little Lake Cemetery. Memorial donations to The City of Peterborough c/o The Wall Of Honour would be greatly appreciated by Hazel’s family.
