Peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on Friday, August 11, 2023. Beloved wife & best friend for 54 years of the late Donald Morton. Cherished daughter of the late Charles and Loretta McGillen (nee: Reynolds). Loving Mother of Christopher (Heather), Timothy (Nicolas Noriega), Edward, and Susan (Joseph Quinlan). Loving Nana of Bethany, Fraser, Olwen, and Abigail. Dear Sister of Maureen Day, Pat (Fran) McGillen, Katherine (Peter) Shortall, Loretta McGillen, Gerald (Carol) McGillen, Charlene (the late William) Manson. Dear sister-in-law of the late Marie McKellar (the late Russell), the late Edna Cape (the late Jack), and the late James Morton. Joan worked for years at Victoria and Grey, National Trust, and Scotiabank, where she befriended many and mentored more. She was known for her love of the Blue Jays, sudoku, a saucy book, a good musical, and a great game of cards. She will be missed by all who knew her but is reunited in peace with her partner, Don. Thanks for all of the incredible support received from her caregivers over the last few years. A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church - 386 Rogers Street, on Tuesday, August 15 at 12:00 PM with viewing commencing at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Peterborough would be appreciated.
