The family of John ‘Jack’ Edward Anderson are saddened to announce his passing on
Thursday, April 3rd after a brief illness. Jack was the loving husband of Dorothy (née
Murdock) for 51 years and doting father to Jon (Lindsay), Cara (Dave), and Cailey
(Tim). Nothing gave him greater pride than being a grandfather to Brynne, Jack, Nora,
Sandy, Melissa, David, and Jade.
Jack was born in L’Amable, Ontario to parents Kay and Bob and raised there with his
siblings Larry, Debbie, Scott, Wayne, and Molly (predeceased). Jack was from a large
family with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews and he was very fond
of them all. After they were married, Jack and Dorothy lived briefly in Peterborough
before moving back to the Bancroft area to live in a house that Jack built himself.
Throughout his lifetime, Jack was an avid reader, fisherman, camper, collector, sports
fan, music lover, builder, yardsaler, and storyteller. Jack and Dorothy spent many happy
years camping at Rock Lake in Algonquin Park with Bill and Louise Bandy. In his later
years, Jack enjoyed reminiscing about the good old days with Donnie Taylor, visiting
with Larry & ShirleyAnn Anderson, and taking road trips with Gail & Dave McCormick.
Jack was employed by the HPEDSB for over 30 years, spending much of his career at
Bancroft Public School.
Jack’s family cannot speak more highly of the care and attention he received from the
staff at Kingston General Hospital. Arrangements were entrusted to Comstock-Kaye
Life Celebration Centre in Peterborough, Ontario.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at the ANAF Barn in
Maynooth from 1 - 4p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made
for the ongoing maintenance of St. Andrew’s Cemetery in L’Amable where Jack served
on the board ℅ Ardyth Tait at 340 Bronson Road, L’Amable K0L 2L0 or to Home Again
Animal Rescue to honour Jack’s love of animals. This organization can be reached at
