Surrounded by his loving family, peacefully at his home in Peterborough on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. In his 70th year, after a life well lived and being loved by all who knew him, God told John his struggles were over and called him home. He lived his life based on generosity, kindness and respect for his family, friends and fellow man. To list John’s many accomplishments would not be his way, but we would like to highlight just a few: He was a quiet, humble man gladly contributing in both his community and others. We always marveled at how much life he could pack into a 24-hour day. The successes of Maxxam Analytics, a company John co-founded, are well known world-wide. He helped to advance the current knowledge base of neuroendocrine cancers in both Canada and Germany. What made life most special for John were family times with the loves of his life, wife Gail (Ebbs), daughter Kylie as well as son-in-law Mike Kitchen. John is survived by his mother Mary, brothers Pat (Nancy) and Rick (Debbie), brother-in-law Don Ebbs (Catherine) and their families. In addition, John was an avid hunter, fisherman, skier, and hockey player. He loved spending time at his beloved Georgian Bay cottage, the Ketchecum hunt camp and his maple-syrup bush on the farm in Peterborough. Private family arrangements have been made with Comstock Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, followed by interment at Little Lake Cemetery. A Celebration and Tribute of Life was held on Saturday, June 21st at the Iron Horse Ranch and the evening was magical. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that John’s example be taken as inspiration to always treat others with dignity and respect. That was his unfaltering way through it all. If desired, we request that donations be made to Hospice Peterborough Capital Campaign.
We love you John.
