John Shaw Robertson

Peacefully, at PRHC, on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in his 87th year. John is now at rest from the compounded and complex sicknesses which he had suffered through the past many months. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Joyce “Peggy” (nee Patterson) for 42 years. Brother of Murdoch and his wife Eleanor and the late Harry and his wife Eva. John was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret (nee Shaw). He will be sadly missed by Eleanor Earnshaw and Rev. Dr. Marney and his wife Joan Patterson along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families. John was an avid outdoorsman enjoying his time hunting and fishing. He was a long time member of the board and served a term as president of The Peterborough Humane Society. John received his undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, following which he attended Osgoode Hall Law School obtaining his LLB. John later received an appointment as Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.). He along with his brother Harry operated Robertson and Robertson Law Firm in Peterborough. Visitation will take place at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, Ontario (705) 745-4683 on Sunday from 2:00 pm -5:00 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Little Lake Cemetery.
