Devoted mother of Sean (Kimber). Proud grandmother of Van. Dear sister of Wendy Goddard of Australia and the late Brenda Kelsey of Toronto. Lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law David (Inge) Veecock of England, sister-in-law Marguerite Veecock of Toronto, nieces Elizabeth (Sinead) Veecock, Lara Goddard, nephews Keith (Anne) Veecock, and Brian Goddard. Great-aunt of Chloe, Josh, and Bryce of Australia, and Laura, Sarah, James, Tadhg, and Lorcan of England. She will be missed by family and friends.
Born July 13, 1933, in Georgetown Guyana, Marilyn came to Canada in the early 1960’s. Living in Montreal at first, she later moved to Toronto, where she married, and then settled in Tottenham. In each place, she worked as a teller for the Royal Bank. After retiring, she and John moved to Peterborough to be closer to family. Marilyn loved to travel (Caribbean, England, Australia to name a few favourite places), visit friends and family, watch live theatre, and read mystery novels.
In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 1pm at the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough. For those who cannot attend in person a livestream is available at
In memory of Marilyn, donations to the Arthritis Society, Ontario Lung Association, Heart and Stroke Association, or the Victorian Order of Nurses would be appreciated by her family. Online condolences may be made at www.comstockkaye.com.
Many thanks to the kind staff at Extendicare’s Lilac Lane for their care of Marilyn over the past few years.
