

Beloved wife of Neil Thompson, in her 91st year, passed away on February 25, 2023. Mary was born on April 23, 1932, in Peterborough, Ontario to G. Wilson Craw and Gwen Donley.
After graduating from Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School (PCVS) in 1951 (where she was awarded "Head Girl" recognition for her academic and athletic accomplishments) she went on to study history at the University of Toronto. Upon obtaining her B.A. degree she started her first job at PCVS as a history and physical education teacher and was dedicated to this position for 35 years until her retirement in 1989.
During her time at PCVS Mary was dedicated to coaching a number of ladies Cossa Championship Basketball teams.
She also played on a number of City League Softball and Basketball Championship teams.
In her retirement Mary continued with her passion for the game of golf and was a long time member (54 years) of the Kawartha Golf and Country Club. She served as President for a term and was the first female to hold that position with the club. Mary was proud of her accomplishment of achieving 3 aces (hole in one).
Her skills and dedication were recognized by the Ontario Ladies Golf Association and she was invited to join them to take on the task of travelling province wide to rate various golf courses.
Mary was also a highly skilled bridge player and was an instructor to others.
Mary is predeceased by her parents as well as her brother, Robert Craw.
Cherished cousin of Ann Bollefer of Toronto.
Cremation has taken place. At Mary’s request a graveside service will be held at Lakefield Cemetery at a later date.
