September 27, 1944 - July 27, 2025
After a short battle with cancer, Morley passed away, with family by his side, on Sunday July 27, 2025 at Hospice Peterborough. Loving dad to Kelly (Eddie), Kristie May (Franklin) and Aaron. Cherished as Grampa Moe Moe and Dampa to his 5 grandchildren - Katie, Taylor, Hazel, Elijah and Isaiah. Great-grandfather to Grayson, Wesley, Carson, Jackson and Audrey. Dear brother to Patti (Peter) and Alan (predeceased) and son to Eddie and May Wright (both predeceased). Morley will also be missed by many nephews, nieces and dear friends.
Morley grew up in Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood and attended Humberside Collegiate. After having enough of the city life, he moved out to the rolling hills of Caledon, where family and friends have fond memories of gathering together for Sunday night dinners, playing in the pool and taking walks in the forest. After far too many cold winters, and over a decade of early mornings as a single sales distributor of the Toronto Star, he moved his family to the tropical paradise of Sanibel Island, FL. While there, Morley’s happy place was standing at the helm of his boat, taking family boat rides up the intercoastal waters of San Carlos Bay and in the Gulf of Mexico. Morley eventually returned to Canada and settled in Goderich and then Clinton. While there he owned and operated a taxi service for almost 20 years, being a familiar and friendly fellow to many residents throughout Huron County. Following a serious health episode, Morley was finally forced to slow down and start taking it easy. The final years of his life were spent on the outskirts of Lakefield, basking in the quiet peacefulness of the countryside where he enjoyed car rides in his convertible, being with his furry child, Nemo, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
The family would like to thank all the VON Personal Support Workers who provided years of tremendous day to day support and laughter to our father. We’d also like to acknowledge the nurses and physicians at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their excellent care during his cancer treatment. Lastly, we would like to extend immense gratitude to the palliative doctors, nurses and volunteers at Hospice Peterborough for their exceptional care and compassion in his final days.
Cremation will be held in Lakefield, ON and a celebration of Morley’s Life will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are welcome to make a donation to Hospice Peterborough or The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
