I am so sad to hear about your mother and your brother Rod's passing.  I danced with Rod at the National tap dance Company.  We were good friends and were together at the company for many years, travelling to different schools and theatres, having so much fun.  He was such a great person, and always spoke so highly of your Mother. He was so kind to me, letting me stay at his apartment when the weather was bad as I lived in Barrie at the time.  I have wonderful memories of him and all the jokes we shared.  
 It must have been so hard for you and all of your family with them both passing so close to each other.  My heart goes out to you and hope that you find some comfort in knowing how much they were loved and will be greatly missed.

My condolences to you, John, and the rest of your family. I remember your mother very well from the Donwood days, as a strongly contributing community member to teas, showers, fundraisers and all the rest. The sound of her laughter stays with me to this day. I remember Rod from school, and loved his sense of humour and ready wit. So sorry to learn of their passing.

John... I met your mother and brother when you and I were Trent University friends. Although we've lost track of each other, I have often thought of you and your mother and brother. My condolences to you at this difficult time.

I am very sorry to hear of Rod's and Pat's passing.  I and my parents were neighbours of the Heffernans in Donwood.  I went to Cornonation P.S. with Rod and my mother used to play euchre with Pat.  I had no idea how accomplished Rod had become.  I knew that he was a member of the National Tap Dance Company at one point. :)

I want to send my deepest sympathy to you, losing your dear Mother and Rod in a matter of days.We had so much fun,as kids, growing up in Donwood.May all the wonderful memories you have, help you through this sad time.

I have many fond memories of working with Rod. I met him socially long before we were associated professionally, but it was through work that we became good friends. We worked particularly closely during "We Will Rock You", and what I remember most is the laughter. Rod was full of life and good humour. I am very sad for his loss. My sincerest condolences to the brother and family he spoke of and loved so much.

Hi I am so sorry to read of Rod's death. And so sorry he could not find happiness in this life, I am sure he suffered through his addiction, but unable to conquer it. It is a disease. I remember Rod from highschool, Crestwood, and then again at Fleming College. We used to call ourselves kissing cousins, as his parents where friends of my Aunts years ago. I remember Rod as a carefree, smiling, joking person, a person you loved to run into and chat with. I was out of town and unable to attend the service, but please know the Rod I knew was a very special, caring person!

I used to live in the same apartment as Rodney. We used to hang out at the pool and meet for many drinks and dinners. He also fed my passion for fashion shopping on Bloor. I always loved his humor and sense of fun. My thoughts are with his family.

 I have very fond memories of Roddy from the old days growing up on the Warsaw Road in Donwood. We had lots of fun tobogganing on Kemp's ski hill and ball games in the yard behind and adjoining the Heffernan home.Time spent with neighbourhood kids like Roddy and Dave Meldrum were some of the best days of my life. He won't be forgotten.

I am so saddened by Rod's passing.I met Rod back in the early 70's at Carleton Renfrew Residence. He was always one of the sweetest people and he could always make you laugh even if you did not want to laugh. I have so many wonderful memories of Rod over the years and I will cherish them always. I am sure you are happy where you are now Rod. God Bless you Rocket Man!!

I worked with Rod on a very difficult show and he was always kind and helpful to "the rookie".  He had unending patience, good humour, a genuine affection for the actors, and he made me feel welcome.  He was a lovely man with a big heart.  Rest in peace, Rod, many blessings.

Rod was a dear, dear friend. We worked together as dressers and complained together as out-of-work actors. For many years, we lived in the same apartment building and would get together on Sunday evenings to watch Masterpiece Theatre and sob our way through "Anne of Green Gables".
Viewing the photo gallery, it's a shock to learn that he once had hair.
He was a super guy and I'll miss him.

My most sincere condolences to the family. I worked with Rod some years ago as members of IATSE Local 822, and enjoyed the professional friendship we had. I know he so loved his Mum, and I hope that they are having a great time on the next part of their journey.  I regret I am unable to attend the funeral, but my thoughts will be with you at that time.

Rod you made me laugh everyday for seven years, as your business partner  You were such a kind friend. Father Ted will be waiting. deepest condolences to the family.

I have known Rod from the early 'eightys.  We worked together on my first job with IATSE, and I watched him sing and dance in the musical "Hogtown". There were countless laughs and good times over the ensuing years.  He will be greatly missed by all of his many friends from the theatre world.

Rod was such an ebullient person that it was impossible not to cheer up when he was around. And he danced at our wedding with such enthusiasm and skill that we still remember it, twenty-one years later.

Rod was such a good friend when we attended Crestwood.  I will always remember him at the back of the band, playing tympani, or fighting with Sherry Harrison to play tympani.
