

HEFFERNAN, Rodney ‘Rod’
Pat died peacefully in her 93nd year at Fairhaven LTC Home on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Beloved Mother of John Heffernan (Maria) and the late Rod Heffernan (2013). Predeceased by husbands Jack Heffernan (1967) and Jim Taylor (1999), her parents James Earnshaw (1973) and Elsie Reeves (1969), and her beloved brother Chuck Earnshaw (2009). Nan will forever be missed by her much-loved grandchildren Claudia and Kelly (Cameron), all of Ottawa; and her furry friends Holly, Higgins, Chase, Alley, and Oliver. Pat also leaves her three step-daughters Sharon, Betty and Nancy, and their families, as well as countless relatives and friends from primarily Peterborough, Apsley, Thunder Bay and Saskatoon. Pat’s family wishes to thank the devoted staff at Fairhaven for their excellent care of our Mother and Grandmother. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Fairhaven Foundation are welcomed.
Rod passed away on Sunday September 1, 2013 as a result of complications due to a long term addiction to alcohol. Beloved son of the late Pat Taylor (2013) and Jack Heffernan (1967), dearest brother of John Heffernan (Maria), loving ‘Unca Rot’ of Claudia and Kelly (Cameron) and his loving furry companion Higgins. Also survived by his three step sisters Sharon, Betty, and Nancy and their families. Rod also leaves behind many wonderful relatives and dearest friends including: The ‘Carleton University Crew’ and Glynnis Burt and family.
Rod, a graduate of Fleming College and Carleton University, was a career actor, dancer, entertainer, stuntman and wardrobe assistant with professional theatre in Toronto. He was also a partner and a great supporter of Kate’s Garden in Markham, Ontario.
Rod’s family would like to thank all of those who tried to help him through his addiction. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) would be greatly appreciated to fight this stigmatized disease.
Visitation for both Pat and Rod will take place at the Comstock Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, on Saturday, September 14, 2013, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, followed by the service, to be conducted by the Reverend Geoff Howson and the Reverend Suzanne McMillan of All Saints Anglican. Interment will follow immediately at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
