On a beautiful sunny day, Pete departed for "where he came from," as he often said, with his partner and wife of 43 years, Kathy, and his dear friend, Donna Hawkins, by his side.
Born and raised in Port Hope, Pete was predeceased by his parents and sister. He began his career with the City of Peterborough, serving as a First Class Constable for 13 years before becoming the owner/operator of Gord's Towing in 1979. Pete operated the business for 33 years before deciding it was time to retire. In 2012, Pete and Kathy moved to the village of Havelock, where Pete rekindled his passion for golf and learned to play bid euchre. He served as the President of the HBM Seniors Club for six years until his health necessitated his resignation.
Pete had many passions, including golf, fishing, and NASCAR, but above all, he cherished his many friendships. Recognizing the decline in his health, he opted to celebrate his 80th birthday as his "Live Celebration of Life" last August. It was a truly amazing day, and he enjoyed it immensely. Thank you to everyone who attended and made it special for him.
Special thanks to CMH, PRHC, Peterborough County Paramedics, VON, Dr. Andrew Binette, and the HBM Volunteer Fire Department for their many "lift assists".
In accordance with Pete's wishes, there will be no further celebrations of life. Once was enough! If you would like to honor his memory, please consider making a donation on Pete's behalf to either CMH or PRHC.
