

Entered into eternal rest peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the age of 85. Son of the late William and Effie Haines; dear brother of Kenneth Haines of Confluence, Pennsylvania and John Haines of Santa Barbara, California. Fr. Haines is survived by four nephews and his niece, Debby Haines. Nephew of the late Valena Harris, Chester Mifflin, Lillian Massman, and Albert Haines. He will be missed by his good friend, Albert Smith. Fr. Haines graduated from Queen’s University, Kingston; ON College of Education, Toronto, ON; and St. Peter’s Seminary, London, ON. He was ordained for the Diocese of London in 1964, and he taught at Forster Collegiate Institute in Windsor, Brennan High School in Windsor and St. Peter’s High School in Peterborough. Father also served at Holy Angels Parish in St. Thomas, ON, Most Precious Blood Parish in Windsor, ON, and St. John the Divine Parish in London, ON. Visitation is at the CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER-IN-CHAINS from 2:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER-IN-CHAINS on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. His Excellency Most Reverend Daniel Miehm, Bishop of Peterborough officiating, concelebrated by his brother Priests of the Diocese of Peterborough.
