Memorial donations made in Bob’s honour to the PRHC Foundation, in support of the Cardiac Cath Lab or to the Buckhorn Community Care would be appreciated. Flowers can be sent to the Lakefield Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kathiravelu, Dr Morelli, and the wonderful nurses and PSW’s at Nightingale Nursing and St Elizabeth Health Care who helped keep Bob comfortable and in his home.
Bob worked as a Toronto Hydro linesman for over 30 years and upon retirement moved to Buckhorn where he and Fran operated Mr. A’s Variety. Bob was well known in the community for his generosity, big heart and giving nature. The store was a place where all were welcome and it wasn’t unusual to open the doors afterhours to help someone in need. He also supported and contributed to the Buckhorn community in many ways.
Bob was a hardworking man who loved tinkering in the garage, cutting wood and working in the yard and gardens. There was nothing that could slow him down and he was considered bionic Bob by his family given the multiple injuries, surgeries and metal implants he endured. Even so, he stayed active into his 90th year.
Bob enjoyed shopping and going to yard sales or auctions, often coming home with mystery boxes full of treasures. He had a soft spot for his dogs, loved to fish, and he and Fran enjoyed many years of travelling together and at their winter home in Florida.
The love he had for his family was undeniable.
We will all miss him.
