

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend: Marie Paul (nee Sparling) left our presence and entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning May 5, 2022 in her 91st year surrounded by family at St Michaels Hospital, Toronto.
Born October 30, 1931 in Markdale, Ontario. Marie was the beloved wife of the late Ray Wilbert Paul (68 years). Mother of 6 children, Marvin of London, Nancy Martyniuk (Gerald) of Erin, Steven (Jenny) of Calgary, Brian (Clara) of Calgary, David of Toronto, Don (Kathi) of Peterborough. Grandmother of Michael, Jordyn, Whitney (Brian), Jasmine (Chris), Sarah, Rudy, Riley, Brendan, Krista. Predeceased by her parents Annie and Russell Sparling.
Marie lived in Peterborough for nearly 75 years and was an only child. She had many wonderful lasting friendships, and was a person who if you made friends with you would have a friend for life. As well as being a reliable and loyal friend, Marie had also become a second Mother to many people in her life imparting knowledge, wisdom and thoughtfulness. Marie had a joy of playing Bridge and will be dearly missed by the Bridge Girls; who for nearly 70 years gathered to enjoy each other’s company. Marie’s wonderful Christmas and Thanksgiving turkey dinners were legendary, and family and friends would gather and enjoy her wonderful cooking, generosity, and unconditional love. There was always a pie or a batch of cookies freshly made, and she loved to make cakes for her grandchildren and friends’ birthdays. She loved knitting, entertaining company, going to music shows, singing in the church choir, as well as gardening. She remembered everyone’s life occasions at all stages of her your life; sending heartfelt handwritten cards and letters religiously. The love she gave was unconditional, and she will no doubt, continue cheering us on from above. Marie was also an active member of Northminster United Church for over 60 years, endeared by all for her generous spirit and kindness, and who will be dearly missed. Her family and many friends were always there for her, which she appreciated very much, and they knew they could always count on her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Northminster United Church, 300 Sunset Blvd, Peterborough on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11am. Rev John Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northminster United Church Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by her family. Internment will take place at Emily Cemetery at a date to be announced.
