Terry Finn started teaching music to my daughter in 2002.  That started a long relationship over many years.   Terry was always fun and very generous with his time, support, and encouragement.  He will be greatly missed and we will be forever grateful to have known him.

Dear Norma, Maureen, Marian, Lawrence and Families:

How does one find the words to describe the magnitude of the love you gave and received from Terry? How does one describe the unwavering love and care Terry received throughout his illness from Norma, the love of his life? I can't but I know it to be true.

Men have a different way of expressing their love for one another as you know. While Ken and Terry would call each other by the most disgusting names, their love was deep and expressed by way of getting haircuts together, shopping for groceries,  going to the dump and recycling depot or just sharing old times in an effort to relive them. When it comes to me, I simply allowed the happenings to wash over me and make me smile but  this isn't about me so here is an acrostic poem; my attempt to convey what I have learned and loved about Terry, the man.

When people think of Terry Finn, they most often think of his musical accomplishments and Finn Flair, however in my heart, Terry is a CHAMPION. The Oxford dictionary tells us that a champion is a person who has surpassed all rivals in a competition. I wish to honour Terry not for what he did, but for who he was — a true champion among us and in the hearts and lives he touched:

C-caring soul with a grin on his face and a chuckle in his voice,
H-heralding the next best western movie or book,
A-always ready with a terrible joke — or a perfect one,
M-making every person feel seen, heard, and valued,
P-passing on wisdom like recipes, music, world events and politics,
I-in every conversation, giving more than he took,
O-open-hearted, with a wit sharp and warm all at once,
N-never just a friend — always a champion.

I am one of those "aspiring artists". I spent many enjoyable and entertaining evenings with Terry in his basement studio. He taught me much about music, and life. I really miss our time playing and recording music. We have lost a very talented and generous man.

I can't imagine what we are going to do without him. Not only the beautiful music we made together on stage and at home, but the long conversations on the phone, solving all the world's problem, sharing recipes and what we were going to make for dinner, telling the world's worst Dad jokes, and ones that Dad should never hear, talking about our favorite old movies and quoting them. To just knowing your best friend was only a call away, even though he never answered, he would always call you right back, until he couldn't last Tuesday. But he texted  and said he could no longer talk, but that he loved us and thanked us for the years of friendship. I hope he read my reply, that we loved him too. That was Wednesday. Because my last reply was a joke, sent on Friday, but he had already left. 😥 Rest in Peace my friend. You totally enriched our lives.

My earliest memory of Terry was in grade 7 and Terry would often entertain the class play the organ.  It was obvious that he was destined to be involved in the music industry.
Year later I met Ken DesChamp and was to find that he and Terry played together a lot.  So I would see him at Ribfest.
I had a delivery service that I was selling and Karin, Ken's wife suggested that I meet up with Terry as it would be a good fit for him.
We met up and Terry and Norma purchased it just as covid hit.
Terry was a great musician and a great guy.  RIP my friend.

Our condolences to Terry's family...some people you just expect to be around forever and he will be fondly remembered. As it says in the song Rock and Roll Heaven he will be joining one hell of a band.

Terry h as been a close friend since our Something Blue Days- So many great memories and times together- his musical talent was surpassed by few and alsways had a smile and a laugh for me- Although the last few years we didnt see each other much he was always in my thoughts-- written with much love and sorrow for my passed friend- RIP Terry-- Love Les Manley

To the Finn family- my sincere condolences on the loss of Terry.  Terry was a loyal friend and talented young man when I knew him 60+ years ago.  Will always remember him.

Terry always had a sparkle in his eyes. 
When playing at the Chapel at the Mount he was always creative on the piano which was much appreciated by Fr. Leo by giving a little nod of acknowledgment.

My condolences Norma on Terry’s passing.
Such a talented musician especially when he sat down at the piano.  Terry made going to Saint Peter's that much more fun through his sense of humour and jokes.  So many fond memories hanging out with Terry that I will always cherish. Thanks Norma for being by Terry’s side through his health issues…..no more suffering.  Rest in Peace my friend.  Dave Ralph.
